The Darkest Hour

Hello and welcome to another movie review/synopsis. The movie I will be going over today is "The Darkest Hour".

It starts out two business partners go to (Sean - Emile Hirsch and Ben - Max Minghella) Moscow, Russia to try and sell their new app for cell phones.  They get to the business meeting and some other guy has stolen their ideal and made a couple of changes to it.  Sean and Ben are really upset and go to a bar where they run into a couple of girls (Natalie - Olivia Thirlby and Anne - Rachael Taylor) from America.  They are just flirting around with one another and decide to take a picture together.  When they snap the camera the electricity goes out across the whole town.  They are all leaving the club together and when they get outside they see this orange orbs floating down from the sky.  They all are just wondering what they are and stick around to see what they are.  Well the orbs start to touch the ground and go invisible.  A police officer goes to where they just saw the orb and sticks his night stick towards where they last saw it.  The police man gets grabbed up by the orb and it rips him to dust.  People of course start to run, but there are so many of these orbs people are dying everywhere.  Well Sean, Max, Natalie, and Anne get inside of a refrigerator inside the club they ran back into.  They also had one other guy in the refrigerator with them to, which just happened to be the guy that stole Sean and Ben's app ideal.  To get start to the point:  The group picks up a couple people on the way and loses some too.  They kind of figure out to disable the aliens' force fields and then are able to kill them.  At the end of the movie, what little bit of survivors there are they are making ways to attack the aliens.

Now on to what I thought of the movie.  I thought it was an okay movie.  It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible either.  I think there could have been more killing of the aliens at the end, but oh well I guess.  You also don't know who wins in the end either.  I also thought the people made some really bad decisions, but maybe there would have been people like that. For instance, when the orbs started falling from the sky, I would have gotten the heck away from them.  I mean for one they were orange, so I probably would have thought fire!  I probably still would have died in the end  though, I would have never figured out how to kill the things and I am surprised the people in the movie did.  It seemed to be unlikely they would know how to make the machine to disarm the aliens.

All in all I would rate it a "Rent" on the "Theater, Buy, Rent, or Pass" scale. I think if you watch it once, that's all you will want to see it.  I would love to know how you rate it, let me know in the comments.  Also if you have a movie I should watch let me know too. Thanks for reading.
